Korean Jar with Lemon

Korean Jar with Lemon, 6x8 Inches, Oil on Linen Panel

I bought this Korean (Celadon) Jar in 2000 when I was stationed in South Korea. I  saw the jar in downtown Seoul. It came full of honey. I bought the jar and distributed honey to anyone who wanted some in the barracks. The jar has a crane incised on the face of the bowl. It's a prevalent theme in South Korea. the land of the morning calm.

Sourdough Shadows

Sourdough Shadows, 6x8 Oil on Linen Panel

We recently brought home this fresh loaf of delicious sourdough bread. The whole house was filled with the aroma.  When we cut it and I saw the glorious nooks and pockets, I knew some butter and jam was in order. I also knew I'd have to capture a piece of this golden goodness in luscious paint. It sure would look great in your home or make a wonderful gift.

Light Through a Glass Jar

“Light Through a Glass Jar”, 8x10, oil on panel. This is a jewel of a painting. It has visible brushstrokes that give it a sense of movement. The hint of color comes from the reflected color of a pool of color on my palette just off-canvas. The color was there, and I painted what I saw. 😀

Available through my DPW Gallery by clicking the block in the right column or via clicking here.

Hello with English Breakfast

Here's my updated Blog that'll feature my Premier Coup (First Strike) daily paintings.  All the featured paintings are available for purchase through a Paypal link associated with the piece.  You can click on my Daily Paint Works Gallery page in the right column of the blog and take a look at all my Premier Coup paintings.

Premier Coup translates to first strike and it's been popularized by Duane Keiser in his "painting a day" work.  Premier coup paintings are painted in one session, "alla prima".  Hey! What's with all this foreign language? I know, just put up with me for a few more sentences.

So why is this blog named "Postcards from Florida"? Good question.  It's patterned after Julian Merrow-Smith's "Postcard from Provence" daily painting process.  In my case, I'll paint scenes and things from my native Florida. They'll all be painted from life. Many pieces will be still-life and some will be landscape or maybe even figurative (if you count our cat as a figure).  Basically, anything that catches my eye and just screams PAINT ME.

Anyhoo, that's what'll be on this blog.  Please stick with it, and if you're so inclined, subscribe to the blog so you never miss a beat.  Here's one of the pieces I recently finished.
